Setup Guide

Vender

  • Visit the SL Store
    • Redeliver Slon to get the latest version

  • Visit the Slon HQ at Kerkopes 50,50,40
    • Map Link is in the Quickstart Notecard in your Slon folder
    Click the Download Kiosk left of the main vender for the latest version

Plant

  • Drag the Slon Plant from your inventory and place it in-world
    • [!] Build permission is required
    [!] Script permission is required
    Nice locations are on a friends land, rented land or in your Linden Home

  • Take note of the Account and PIN the Plant gives you
    • You can change your PIN at a later time

HUD

  • Right-Click the Slon HUD and select Wear
    • [!] If the HUD gets stuck on "Looking for Plant", delete and replace the Slon Plant
    [!] Give the HUD 2min to find the new Plant
    [!] If you cant see the HUD, right click it in inventory and select Attach >> HUD >> Center

  • Click the HUD and select (Contacts)
    • If you see your contact list, the Plant and HUD are working correctly

Web Slon

  • Visit Web Slon and enter the Account and PIN the Plant gave you
    • [!] If you get "Login Failed", verify the HUD is working and click the Plant for a new PIN
    [!] Web Slon only updates when you switch apps/tabs to prevent battery drain

  • Enable Notifications
    • [!] To prevent spam, Notifications are disabled by default
    Select a contact, select Notification and select Enable
    For piece of mind, only enable notifications for your most important contacts

Desktop

  • Download and run the Installer
    • [!] If you get a "File Blocked" message, click the Help link
    [!] If you get "Error Writing File" message:
    - The Installer could be corrupted. Download Slon again.
    - Right-Click the installer and select "Run as Administrator"
    - or use the Zip method below
    [!] If you get a "Framework.dll not found", use the Zip method below

  • (Alternate) Download and open the Zip file
    • Open the zip file and drag the Slon folder to its new home on your PC
    [!] Extract the whole folder, not just slon.exe
    Open the new folder and open Slon
    Drag Slon.exe to your start menu or task bar to add a Shortcut
    Right-Click + Drag Slon.exe to your Desktop to add a Shortcut


Troubleshooting
  • My PIN is not working
    • Remove the Slon Plant from in-world and place it in a new Sim.
    Try using Web Slon to test if the new plant/PIN is working.

  • Slon is down
    • All of the following must be running at the same time:
    Slon Plant, SL Sim, SL backend, Slon Server, Your internet.

  • Slon Desktop icon is gone
    • Windows 11 has problems.
    Click here to see how to fix them

  • Slon HUD is not clickable
    • Low quality HUDs can overlap Slon.
    Remove all other HUDS and try again.

  • How do I change my PIN?
    • Click the Slon Plant and then click (New PIN)

  • Why do I only get Notifications for myself in Web/Mobile?
    • Notifications are set to Disabled on mobile by default to prevent Spam.
    Select a Contact, then select [ Notifications ], then select [ Enable ]

  • Do I always need to keep the Desktop App running?
    • No, only the Plant is required

  • How does Pricing work?
    • Each contact is 1L/week, so 5 contacts would be 20L/mo

  • Does Slon require my Second Life Password?
    • No, Slon uses its own PIN instead

  • Does Slon have Mac support?
    • In Oct 2019 Apple broke alot of software with macOS Catalina 10.15
    This stopped support for 32bit apps like Slon
    Apple now requires devs to buy hardware and a subscription
    Web Slon and Email are how macOS/iPhone users can use Slon

  • How do I Refill my Service?
    • Click the Plant and select (Autopay)
    Click the HUD and Select (Refill)
    Visit the Slon Vender link in the Quickstart notecard

  • How do I Update Slon to the Newest Version?
    • Delete all Slon items from in-world, inventory and the computer to start fresh
    Visit the SL Store or Slon Vender to get the newest Slon
    Your Contact list and Service time are protected
    Old contact lists can be found in C:\Users\YOU\AppData\Roaming\SLON3

  • The Server is down
    • Server issues are rare and are usually resolved in under 4 hours

  • There was a Payment Issue
    • Contact Kae Fox within 30 days of the payment issue

  • Slon isnt working right
    • Follow the Setup Guide step by step first

    • Contacts will appear together based on their Color

    • Use the Classic Slon icon or a Modern Icon
