Introduction to SLON
SLON is a Second Life friends list for when you are logged out. It lets you know when someone logs into SL so that you can stay informed, anywhere on earth. Whether meeting up with a friend, or keeping tabs on an employee, SLON will be there. You can keep track of your contacts three different ways outside of Second Life. Use the computer client with a PC, Linux or OSX, use a cellphone produced after 2004 with a data plan or use the SLON website interface.

A: Click "Vender Locations" then choose any location you wish. You will need to have the Second Life Client already installed.
What if someone uses the SLON service inappropriately?
A: If someone contacts you, use the "Mute" feature built into Second Life. It only takes 2 clicks. "Profile" then "Mute". This is the Second Life equivalent of the 'ignore' feature built into other clients like MSN, YIM, GTalk, Jabber, IRC.
Is there spyware in any of your products?
A: No. Period. The closest thing we have is an in-world script that helps populate the contact lookup database, which does not affect any users privacy in the slightest.
History
SLON was created in mid 2006 to notify its creator when a sim owner came online even though the creator was offline. The creator was trying to rent a plot of land that needed to be deeded and that could only happen if both the creator and the sim owner were online at the same time. After spending all the time to make a notification system, the creator thought it would be useful to others as well.
SLON debuted in May of 2007 with 25 contacts. Soon after, users started requesting higher limits to add more contacts, especially for businesses. SLON responded by creating service levels to suit the different needs of its users. SLON Mobile and Web were added to compliment the computer client and allow more options for being able to see the status of contacts.
Almost 3 Years later, in Feb. of 2010 a user requested a way to log when contacts came online. This spawned the creation of the Contact History feature. In Jan of 2011 SLON introduced 2 new features, SLON Lifetime and the SLON Pager. SLON Lifetime was suggested by a potential SLON user that did not like the idea of prepaid, but instead wanted a one time payment solution. The SLON Pager was a completion of the abandoned idea of 'SLIM', a way to have instant messaging into the Second Life world without being logged in.
SLON 3 was created due to growing popularity. SLON servers were getting overloaded and SLON 3 changed the way servers handled contacts, allowing for growth. Color highlight grouping and the fastest update speed yet are the main features of this latest version
